Long weekend ahead!

The Queen is celebrating her birthday and the whole of Australia gets a day off. Sometimes, having a monarchy seems like a good thing. I mean, it's not like as if Singapore gets a holiday because it is Lee Kuan Yew's birthday. When is it, anyway?

Kristin comes up for the weekend this evening.

What with the Sydney Film Festival happening and wanting to visit Bondi Beach and that lovely cafe bookshop, I think we're going to have a pretty great weekend!

At least I won't have to worry about the Christian Resources Exhibition, or chasing up news stories, or the exhibition for the church's business meeting for one extra day...

Hurray for the Queen!

Not all of Australia gets a day off on Monday. We had last Monday off for Western Australia's Foundation Day.

Over here, the queen has to wait until late September to celebrate her birthday.

I once checked out some differnt calendars to find that in various parts of the world, there are about 6 different days on which the Queen's birthday is celebrated. Add to that her real birthday and she's celebrating around 7 times a year. No wonder she's looking older.

*lol* I didn't realise the Queen has that many birthdates!

What is the logic of that?

You would think as a lady she'll like to celebrate as few birthdays as possible!
