I couldn't help but laugh when I got this letter in the mail this morning:

Dear Melody,

At the last meeting...we discussed the current situation with the Communication Department and our need to have someone with the authority to represent it when needed.

It is with this in mind that we took the following action:

RESOLVED: That Melody Tan be temporarily reclassified from PR Assistant to PR Officer until such time as the department is restructured or a full time director is appointed.

Melody, I do hope that you are able to take on this added responsibility...Unfortunately it does not come with an increase in pay (italics my own).

wow... that is such a typical corporate move! Wahahahaha!

hey, look at d silver lining, they think u're capable. and becuz there's no increase in pay, if u can't handle it, u can always say, no thanks.

and if u produce results, u can use the no pay to barter for more pay (or fringe benefits)! =D

Be careful, my aussie friend. People have been fired over stuff they put on their blog...

I think that you should look forward in the new challenge that is before you, even though it may not have a pay increase. It could come later after they see your success at it.

Besides, pay is not everything. It helps, but this experience could land you a better job down the road.

thanks for dropping in kev!

actually it isn't the lack of a pay increase that's bothering me, I'm just tickled that they had to mention it.

I mean, if money really was everything, I wouldn't have opted to work for the church! :)
